Yep! I would say your quote from the Watchtower is another indicator that the Society is 'hardup' for men.
So what was it that you, the WTBTS, were saying not too long ago about the Catholic Church and its' shortage of priests? Hmmmm!
so did anyone notice the statement on page 11, paragraph 11?
"if a brother has been baptized at least one year and to a reasonable degree meets the scriptural qualifications fo rministerial servants outlined at 1 timothy 3:8-13, he can be recommended for appointment.
" i thought paul specifically warned against appointing a "newly converted man"?

beth sarim, san diego.
you all know why this was built i think ?
looks a bit over the top to me all that expense and nobody to live in it, untill rutherford landed there after of course.
I can't believe that 'Holy Spirit' had a part in directing Beth Sarim or Beth Shan. I would say that the Devil made them do it!

St George of England:
Thank you. Just Googled 'Beth Shan Jehovah's Witnesses San Diego'. Quite a bit of interesting reading. Enjoyed reading Farkels' thread on the same subject back in 2004.
Boy, the WTBTS has its' share of skeletons. I would say they're not too proud of this history.
Man, what were they thinking????

This house has quite a history!
I'd bet the WTBTS would like the story about this residence would go away.
I'm going to be in southern California soon on business. I'm going to make it a point to visit 4440 Braeburn Rd San Diego.
If you Google this address you'll fine a couple of articles that connect this house to the WTBTS and its' president, Judge Rutherford, back in the 30s.
This nice old house is like a 'black eye' to the Society.
Good thread!
today i received the following pm from a fairly new poster (last 2 weeks and only 10 posts):.
audesapere, .
something in one of your posts tells me i might know you.
Sounds like a 'snake in the grass' to me!
I'd like to know who the poster who sent you the PM is so that the rest of us can be on the look out.
a jw friend of mine sent me this email today:.
assembly day points...... .
brother morris, (member of the governing body).
“ Brothers and sisters if you are not doing family worship night, you will not be ready for survival at Armageddon. The Governing Body has worked hard to convey the seriousness of this arrangement. It cannot be underestimated. Now you have a choice whether or not you will listen to the counsel….but remember, you’ve been warned.”
No Way!
I heard this statement word for word: 2 weeks ago at a memorial talk by a traveling servant and then at a two day assembly about a month earlier by the same D.O. Both times it came across as a desparate threat.
These guys are losing credibility fast!
my school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.
to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.
what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.
miseryloveselders:
Good Topic and thank you for sharing.
sweet pea:
Appreciate your comment: all along they're slaves to a cruel organisation that ultimately will give them nothing of value back.
I truly feel one day soon the Society will pay dearly for their abuse of power. Especially for the way they abuse the R & F with the disfellowship and shunning policy.
come on in, the water's fine.
you may even realise you have close friends and family here.

'I am so far entrenched, I cant ever see a way out even if I wanted to - so maybe this is the outlet I need for now.'
I hear you loud and clear 'compadre'. I find this forum to be a terrific form of Therapy!
Around my parts there is a country song. The cowboy is lamenting ...'she used me up til I'm all used up'. The WTBTS will do that to families and individuals alike and then spit them out.
Welcome curiousconfused!
Good Topic also.
i've already written "my story".
i've been "out" for 35 years.
but that is not a story that contains the little stuff.
I'm pourin my favorite beverage and I'm a waitin!
